Volunteers
Volunteers are the backbone of the garden. They work as garden hosts in small teams to open the garden to the public and are involved in both its maintenance and upkeep. They are essential in the successful running of all of our events. Being a volunteer is fun, social and rewarding. You don't have to know anything about gardening as you will receive all the support you need. The volunteer's role is vital to ensuring that the garden is widely used by the local community.
We are always looking for volunteers. If you would like to offer some time please send us a message.
Groups
We welcome many groups to our garden, to just visit, relax and enjoy nature, to play and to learn.
Our visitors include among others local schools and nursery settings, childminders and nannies, Woodchips, home education groups, the WI, and a local specialist complex care home. If you are interested please get in touch.
We work closely with many local organisations including The Gate (library), Aston Mansfield, the Community Connector Team at East London Foundation Trust, Social Prescribers through Team Joy and Eco 7.
Local businesses such as Stow Brothers and local shops support us with publicity and East London Business Association provides corporate volunteers.
Schools
We welcome school groups to the garden. Engaging with nature and having the opportunity to participate in outdoor learning or activity sessions is invaluable. It can improve physical health and well-being, improve confidence, help with communication and observation skills as well as helping to enrich the entire curriculum. It's also lots of Fun! What better place to teach about the environment, biodiversity and sustainability.
Please contact us below if you wish to book a session.
Businesses
We often host Groups of corporate volunteers to work in our community garden. Its great fun, good for mental health, bonding and a perfect day out of the office. We always have jobs that need doing in and out of the garden. This could be anything from helping with out wildflower garden, maintaining our pond or planters, building tasks, composting trimming or planting. Get involved.
